Happy new year everybody!
We've worked hard the last couple of months to get the WinModify beta stable enough to launch it. Bear in mind that this is the very first beta. Though it's pretty much functional, there's still lots of new functions too come. I'm guessing that the progress currently is at about 20%.
It may seem this is nothing spectaculair so far, but 'under the hood' there are some radical changes if you compare it to our current site. Ofcourse they're still some new features that already work like the mini thumbnails you see when looking at the 'latest additions', this way you can immediatly see a skin, be it at a small size. When you're browsing the galleries, we've upped the thumnails size, and when you click 'more info' you'll see an even larger thumbnail  . But that's not it, when you click the 'zoom' button you'll get a nice effect which will display an even larger image. So in total you'll find 4 different sizes of preview images across the site. I personally think that's a HUGE improvement.
Another new feature that I hope is going to be used frequently is the ability to comment on the poll.
It's also possible to make a shout, you'll see a neat effect when clicking 'place a shout'.
Another super feature is the forms where people can write text in (comments and submission forms) In the current site you'll have to use BBcode when making a link or inserting an image. In the beta site we have a new editor that makes it much easier to make links, insert smilies, or other things. No need to have knowledge of HTML anymore .
Furthermore we now have the possibility to use avatar images that will show when posting comments for instance. In my last newsitem I also talked about the subsections that are now available in the Wallpapers section. Those are live now and as you will see there are 15 of them, including 'Photographic Wallpapers'. It will let you find the type of wallpaper a lot quicker now. It's not possible to use your current username and password because all data of the current site will be transferred to the new site as soon as it's finished. So you must create a new account if you want to test out some things, feel free to submit skins and newsitems, and comment on skins, newsitems, and the poll. There's even the ability to comment on the WinModify Skinners Interviews. But remember, this is only a temporary account, it will be deleted when the new site is finished and will go online to replace the current site. If you encounter bugs please contact us.
Once again, there is still a lot of work to be done, most features that you see now are working fine, but not 100% like we want them too, we'll work on that in the upcoming months. When several new features have been added I will post a newsitem about it. For now, please visit http://www.beta.winmodify.com and let us know what you think. Oh and don't forgot to try out the 'site skins', you can click the arrow for an orange version if blue is not your color. More colors will be added later on. Again, happy new year! I hope that 2010 will be a good and better year for all of us including WinModify as a website, I will put in all my effort to make sure it will. |

Wallpapers Milestone: 1000+ |

 WinModify has hit an important milestone recently. Our wallpapers section now contains over 1000 submitted wallpapers!  Thanks a lot to all submitters!
I'm also glad to inform you that the relaunched WinModify wallpapers section will use catagories (one of them beiing the long anticipated 'Photographic Wallpapers') that means you will be able to find your wallpaper easier and faster. |

 Christmas is around the corner. Some of you are skinning your desktop in Christmas style. While I would love to find and share some awesome Christmas wallpapers and skins, I unfortunally don't have the time since I'm very busy with the coming beta of the new WinModify.  We are currently very busy with the coming relaunch of WinModify, that's the reason I was a bit inactive the last couple of days/weeks. The status so far is pretty good so we're doing everything we can to launch a beta January 1st 2010. There are some important aspects that still need a bit of work. Icons is one of them. We're looking for someone who is willing to help us out with a few icons (and maybe more in the future) We are going to need icons with a size of 64x64 pixels, but we also want to use most of them in about 20x20 (so they have to look descent in that size) If you're interested please contact us by pressing 'contact' in the header of the site. |
